Guest Artist - Michelle Amato

Michelle Amato is a dynamic vocalist whose abilities to convey the deep passion of a lyric, as well as soar effortlessly through the stratosphere, are making her one of the most in demand names in music today.

Michelle was a featured vocalist in Cirque du Soleil’s “La Nouba” and she has performed and recorded with a diverse array of artists, including Liza Minelli, Al Green, Jon Secada, Donna Summer, Michael McDonald, Celia Cruz, and Rita Marley. Her solo work can be heard on world renowned composer Yanni’s “Ethnicity” CD and “Yanni Live” DVD. Michelle’s own debut CD, “I’m All Smiles,” is available at www.michelleamato.com.

Michelle performs regularly at Timpano’s Restaurant as well as at numerous music festivals around the country. She has been a featured soloist with the Memphis Symphony, the Baton Rouge Symphony, The Florida West Coast Symphony and The Orlando Philharmonic. She recently returned from a guest appearance on Regent Cruise Line’s “Mariner of the Seas”, cruising the South Pacific as soloist with The Christian Tamburr Quintet. Staying extremely active in the recording studio as a singer and contractor, Michelle has worked for Royal Caribbean, Costa and Carnival Cruise Lines, Warner Brothers, Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade, Tournament of Roses Parade, Walt Disney Company, and numerous jingle production companies throughout the country.

Michelle holds a Master’s Degree from the prestigious University of Miami School of Music. She has coached vocalists for Cirque du Soleil and taught private students and directed jazz vocal ensembles at UM, Miami-Dade College, University of Memphis and Rollins College. Michelle has conducted master classes and clinics for the International Association of Jazz Educators, Grammy in the Schools, the North American Cultural Center in San Jose, Costa Rica, and various groups at Walt Disney World. Her adjudicating duties have included The National Foundation for the Advancement of the Arts, The Florida Vocal Association, and various jazz societies.

 


SUNRISE SYMPHONIC POPS ORCHESTRA

The City of Sunrise boasts its own 65-member orchestra - the "Sunrise Symphonic Pops Orchestra." This independent cultural gem, founded in 1985 and incorporated in 1987, conducts its highly anticipated concert season from fall to spring each year.

Over the past twenty-five years, the Sunrise Symphonic Pops Orchestra has given music lovers the opportunity to experience an outstanding array of live musical performances. Our programs have and will continue to provide musical works that include classical, pops, Broadway and contemporary selections.

Each year we are fortunate to work with a variety of guest artists from Broadway and opera to pop and big bands.

MISSION STATEMENT

The Sunrise Symphonic Pops Orchestra offers live, professional quality concerts of classical, Broadway, pops and contemporary music at affordable prices to engage, entertain, educate, and enhance the lives of the City of Sunrise residents and the community at large.
